The campus has many focused and interdisciplinary centers.

Many large institutes and centers represent the campus’ multidisciplinary research strengths. UCLA is very strongly invested in nanotechnology through the establishment of the California Nanosystems Institute (CNSI) and five large national research centers (CMISE, CNID, SINAM, FENA and WIN).
